Giving and receiving feedback for assessments have always been helpful to me. In reflecting this assessment and digital artefact, I do think if I had to redo it I would change some things but before I mention those, lets have a look at our pitch comments.
I chose 3 students to comment on for this assessment. This being Alicia McFadden, Dayle Beazley and Ashlan Waldock.
Alicia’s digital artefact is focusing on pink games, this being using pink colours to atract a female audience. She is going to be going back to old video games she has played on her nintendo and will replay games from the Imaigine series.
I thought that this digital artefact was really interesting as she was focusing on games she has played as a child. Looking into this topic, it would be really interesting to see how the use of colour, especially pink reflects the targets audience eg. girls.
Her blogpost especially made me reflect upon how many games I used to play that used pink / the colour sassociated with it. I am looking forward to this project to understand more on why ‘Pink means girls’ looking into the various aesthetics will be really interesting. Do they still use pink now? Are female gamers more inclined to play a game if it was pink?
When I was discussing this with Alicia, I suggested a few gamers she could look into that would help her further with this assessment. She could use this gamers to compare aesthetics and behaviours towards games.
I really love this idea for your BCM215 pitch. It’s really nice to be able to see what people do with this subject with limited knowledge or no knowledge of games. I really think this is a great way to frame the lectures and use everything we have learnt to focus on something meaningful still!
It’s so true what you have mentioned with the whole ‘pink means girls’. I definitely know the games I play aren’t really targeted at girls however I know so many girls who play similar games to me! I will be really interested to read your future blogposts about this and follow along during the rest of the semester.
I also really love how creative you broke down your schedule! Canva is an amazing platform for designing different things so it was great that you used that to help you.
I hope you don’t mind me saying but it would have been good if you used more pink elements throughout your video just to reflect what you were researching!

For Dayle, her digital artefact will be game illustrations! I believe that this is a perfect topic for her to explore because I have been following her work ‘The Creative Dayle’ on Instagram and she has been showcasing so many illustrations she has done on Procreate.
My favourite part about this digital artefact is the fact that she can do so much with it! It is broad but for a good purpose. She is able to not only focus on particular aesthetics but she can also broaden them as well. The creative scope is truly endless for this project which is brilliant.
As I have been following her work since the beginning, I am really excited for her posts in the future and to see the progress of her art of the semester.
I am so excited to see this project come to life! I love that you have chosen to focus on something so unique rather than fit into the stereotype of playing games (not that there is anything wrong with that). It is really refreshing to see such an awesome design perspective!!
Also I can really see this overlapping with your bcm241 project as well and that is so great that you were able to overlap them! I have done the same with my digital artefacts, I have focus on the topic of branding and design and have expanded from there. As someone who loves designing I really look forward to see all of your work! I am already following and keeping up to date with your posts but it is still exciting!
I definitely think posting in Facebook groups is so useful as well, I know you are in the A24 group for your bcm241 project but I think to get the most inspiration follow a few pages on reddit and Facebook! You’ll find the most people who respond will be in your group pages. That’s what recently happened to me which was cool!

Ashlan’s digtal artefact was one of the most unique and creative projects I have seen! Very similar to mine, she will be focusing on the digital marketing side of the gaming industry. I am definitely looking forward for her work especially because we are doing similar projects.
However mine was focused on the design aspect whilst hers is the marketing aspect. I definitely know that there will be so much information in terms of digital marketing in the gaming industry! She could look at major game competitions and how they advertise that to millions of people around the world.
This is a broad topic because you could research truly anything about it! I highly enjoy listening to her pitch as well as it was really interesting reading that she her digital artefact was inspired from the current work that she does whilst working in the field. I was reflecting on this and thought it was a great way to showcase the best talents and passions you have.
This is a great digital artefact! I think your pitch has been the only marketing one I have come across so far so that is so great.
I think focusing on the marketing aspect is really important. It’s really interesting how our digital artefacts intertwine with each others, I am focusing on the branding side of video games, in particular the history and how the branding has evolved overtime.
I am really looking forward to seeing this project over the upcoming few weeks as it will be interesting to see what kind of things you find. I definitely know the marketing campaigns for games are massive and its something that I know a lot of people don’t take that much notice of. So it is going to be great to be able to use your experience you have in marketing and use it for this digital artefact.
